The Zucchini That Ate Tokyo

Ok, not yet.
It's only about the size of the top of my thumb - but there is a baby zucchini growing! I know that I have to keep a weather eye on it, however, lest it go off and rob Godzilla of his favorite snack. (I love that song. It makes me laugh.)

I also have a baby cucumber. It is about 1/2" long, and about 1/8" wide. I know that eventually it will be a full size cucumber and ready to make into sandwiches, but right now it is just an itty bitty baby pickle with prickles and soooo cute.

I have one Nasturtium flower. It looks stupid all by itself in the pot. *sigh*

My glorious new tan colored hot-water heater is doing a heck of a job, Tannie, and while I still have to call the repair guy back to finish working on the sink and commode, the watery floor issues seem to be resolved. HUGE sigh of relief. As I repack the closet, I am finding that I am less inclined to hang on to stuff that I just never use. It's hard even to keep the extra parts for the carpet-steamer and the floor scrubber, because I don't use them - but if I ever Freecycle the cleaners, I will want to give all the "parts" with them, so I best maybe box them up and haul to the garage.

My fingers are sore from doing piecework for work - a little extra cash for some mindless assembly that I can do while watching movies. I've been watching all my favorites so far this week, but I may take a break from that and go for something "less travelled" like Gone With The Wind tonite. I'd like to get this over with so I can go back to using my weekends for naps.

Good luck with the garden. We've a dedicated space for growing veggies, and it always seems the weeds win out. One time I saw a strong milkweed reach for the sky. I loved to play with the seed pods as a kid,(fluffy white seeds made good parachute toys),so I let it grow until a neighbor complained. It was hard to take it down.

Welcome, Dr. Rick

I don't have much trouble with weeds because my little gardening plot is VERY small. I cram in as much as I can, which creates overcrowding for the plants, but also crowds out a lot of potential weeds.

As a kid, we used to live surrounded by woods and marshes and weedy meadows. I remember exploding milkweeds and cattails to watch the seed pods go floating off. Dandelions too. Now I am a dandelion murdererer.

I'm putting on Gone with The Wind. Thanks for the idea. Good luck with the peacework - I like that idea, Peace work.

I have one geranium plant, one pot with chives and basil, and a plant I bought at IKEA for $1.88 but I don't know what it is. That's it.

My daughters name came from Gone With The Wind. Good movie.

What is the big deal about a zucchini?

Over here they pester you to take it off their hands, it's like a frigging weed.

Chicago, I just don't get it. It's just a bunch of cement and asphalt with potholes in it. Really, been there, done that.

Now if you will excuse me I have to go water my dandelions with their smiling faces. And just what idiot was it that decided a flower that makes great wine is a weed? Hugs.

Question: How many people do you hug in a week?

My garden is growing pretty well, though it's dicey with the cucumbers and peppers. My nasturtiums are blooming all over. I should send you a picture. One of my little lily plants bloomed yesterday, and my pot of wildflower mix is blooming. I saw the first sweet pea flower pod yesterday. The zucchini have several teensy ones but I've not seen a baby fruit on the tomatoes, though there are lots of blossoms.

The major problem here is the weather. It's just not been warm enough long enough for the plants to do well. I got out with my new hoe and did a lot of weeding yesterday. Once I finish work I will go out today and cut blackberry vines down.
