Somebody close the loop on the 7, ok?

Exactly 2 years from today - if (and it IS a HUGE "IF") George Walker Bush voluntarily relinquishes the office of the Presidency, the right of occupancy of which he so brazenly stole, someone else, ANYONE else, will be sworn in.

Only 2 more years of this nightmare, until the Pretender to the Presidency is gone. I wish, in a way, that I could Rip Van Winkle for 2 years - but at the same time, I know that only CONSTANT VIGILANCE - as Prof. Moody says - can protect us during the rest of this fiasco. Wouldn't it be nice, though, if we could fast forward to President Obama's swearing-in ceremony?

So I look at a few Religious Wrong websites and see where the Neocon tin-foil-hatters are unable to come up with anything coherent and meaningful to sling at Senator Obama, so they've resorted to schoolyard bully techniques - making fun of his name.
"Barak? What kid of name is that ? And HUSSEIN - he MUST be a terrorist - Obama, Osama... Coincidence?"

This tells me EVERTHING I need to know about Senator Obama's qualifications to be President of the United States. If the paleocons can't come up with anything better than THAT - it is abundantly evident that he is excellently qualified to hold the highest office in the executive branch of government in this country.

Words of Wisdom from Chicago...

America needs you
Harry Truman
Harry could you please come home
Things are looking bad
I know you would be mad
To see what kind of men
Prevail upon the land you love

America's wondering
How we got here
Harry all we get is lies
We're gettin' safer cars
Rocket ships to mars
From men who'd sell us out
To get themselves a piece of power

We'd love to hear you speak your mind
In plain and simple ways
Call a spade a spade
Like you did back in the day
You would play piano
Each morning walk a mile
Speak of what was going down
Eith honesty and style

America's calling
Harry Truman
Harry you know what to do
The world is turnin' round and losin' lots of ground
Oh Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love
Oh woah woah woah

America's calling
Harry Truman
Harry you know what to do
The world is turnin' round
And losin' lots of ground
So Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love
Oh
Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love
Harry
Harry is there something we can do to save the land we love

"Relationships" and/or "Chivalry is dead - the feminists killed it"

One of the blogs I read sporadically is written by a young Saudi girl. In a recent post, she wailed about how "Chivalry is Dead". One of her commenters told her that the feminists killed it.

Perhaps so. I do know one thing - if I had it all to do over again, I would STILL consider that:

equal pay for equal work,
the right to vote,
the right to own my own property,
the right to make my own decisions,
the right to education,
the right to freedom of movement and freedom of choice,
the right to decide for myself who to marry, or when, or if,
the right to say NO,
the right to dress and eat and do as I wish,
the right to a profession
the right to be a HUMAN BEING, and not PROPERTY

would STILL be more important to me than having some dork open the door and bow as I pass thru.

Sorry boys. Just sayin'

Relationships.
St. Paul the Lutheran Minister is technically my Brother. We are (allegedly) Brother and Sister. That is a relationship.

Amanda is my daughter. We are Mother and Daughter. That is a relationship.

Tom is my boss. We are Supervisor and Employee. That is a relationship.

Leandra is my friend. We are friends. That is a relationship.

Anybody get where I'm going with this yet?
No?

Ok. Here is the deal. I hear so many people using the word "Relationship" to describe dating or marriage or lustily hopping into the sack, and it seems everyone is forgetting that the word "Relationship" is far more all-encompassing than just fuck-related.

Why are we limiting this highly useful and demonstrably versatile word?

Wahhh!!! They're spoiling my fun, Mumsie!!!!

Now, maybe I'm reading this wrong, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am, but it sure does look as if the Shrub has decidered that if he can't have super secret unlimited powers over snooping into our telephone and e-mail and other conversations with our friends and relatives overseas, then he'll just take his tape recorder and code book and go home pouting.

Apparently (if I read it right) if he can't have everything HIS way, and if he has to justify his snoopy-ness to a court, then by golly, he's not going to renew the program when it expires, gol-dang it!

In other news, it seems they're having a bit of trouble finding a jury for the Libby trial because of "political bias". I loved some of the quotes I saw in one article from USA Today, regarding Cheney:

"I don't have the highest opinion of him," a young financial analyst said. "If I had to rank people as to credibility, I wouldn't put him at the top of the list."

"There is nothing they could say or do that would make me think anything positive about them," the woman said moments before she was excused from the jury pool by U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton.

So, like jumping off the Brooklyn Bridge - I guess I have to also.

Get yours here.

Accounting - The Best Job

I love bank reconcilliations. No - really ! I do!

What other job has a built-in legitimate excuse for spending an entire week or more being a surly curmudgeon? And really - it's kind of like a jigsaw puzzle, or a who-dun-it mystery - where is the missing $1867.45?

Why does the bank say the company paid 285.42 to AT&T when the statement said $274.35? (This one happens every month, I suspect AT&T is being underhanded, but the difference is always so minor that if I were to pursue it, it would cost the company more money in lost productivity on my part than it would save us in unpaid AT&T charges. I suspect they know this. I suspect they are THIEVES - just like UPS.)

Oh, do not get me started on UPS - Unabashed Pilferers Society - the THIEVES that stole Artie the computer. (hate, hate, hate, seethe, seethe, seethe)

So last nite I ended up at a relative's house for a few hours, then also at my chiropracter because the arm is still not right - although it does improve mostly every time I go see Dr. Brad. The tingling is not as obnoxious, although it is still there if I want it. i want it to NOT be there, even if I want it. I've never pinched a nerve like this before. I would really rather NOT do it again.

Labels

So like, Blogger now wants me to "label" my posts.

I suppose that is so that someone looking for stuff about cats or quilts doesn't have to read through all my blathering on about politics and accounting.

Well... Tough toenails!!! I'm not gonna... maybe. I don't really see the point, you know. I mean, it's not as if I'm one of those mega-blogs with 1000000's of readers and commenters who visit continuously. I picture my readership as a group of friendly folks I've met online and off - who keep in touch with comments or through their own blogs. Folks I generally agree with, although there are some who may not on certain issues. It's all good. If we all liked the same things, then pizza would cost too much.

I'd complain about Comcast and how it's not performing well with specific regard to my home internet connection, but I'm feeling unusually mellow today and so I'll just say ... it sucketh and doth not swallow when one is in a video-game dungeon with a group of friends from all over the world and thy internet connection doth decide to goeth bellyup and cease and desist in a most heinous manner.

The Sunday Night Regulars were doing rather well before the evil Comcast Lag and Disconnection Monster decided to eat my conn. It was rather interesting, however, to listen on Ventrillo AND on the telephone - and hear people through the telephone, only to hear them 5 minutes later through Ventrillo. (Leandra called me to see if there was a problem - there was a problem!!)

Anyhow - it is time to finish up lunching and get back to work. Have a great rest of the day, everyone - think positive thoughts about racial and sexual and every other type of "ual" equality. Share the Dream.

PS: What kind of nerdling would have enough posts about SCOOTERS to label them "scooters" like blogger suggests?????????

Not Old Anymore

Well, Well. They "invited" me to "upgrade" to this "new and improved" blogger. Kicked me in the ass and demanded it, actually.

Fortunately, it appears that all has gone well and everything transferred over safely. Goddess, I hope so. I see there are some new buttons to play with.

*Plays With Buttons*

Ok, enough silliness. Maybe.

Anyhow, I hope this goes through. I hope it worketh... Oh - and just for the funny bit...

I can now post to the blog I had to create with my google account in order to post to beta blogs a few months ago. *laughing*

I guess I should try some of the "features" to make sure I know how to work them, huh? Post a picture maybe. Ok.

That's a picture of Mindi. Mindi is one of my 2 cats. Her sister looks almost identical, except for facial markings - Kili has no white stripe down her nose - much more black on the face, but she also has a white "blooutsch" on the middle of her back - as if she'd rubbed up against wet paint.

Ok. So I still have pictures and my template and I can make colours and schtuffs easily. This "Labels" thing confuses me, so I won't mess with it just now. Hmm. Post options. I wonder what that does...

Oh. Ok. Lets me fake what time I posted so my boss won't know. *snickers*

Ok, it looks as if I can deal with this.
