Holy Sex Scandal, Batman!!

OH my, my, my.
The evangelical Christians do seem to have had this obssession with homosexuals for an awfully long time - maybe this is why? They're all closet queers?

I have no problem with gays/lesbians/bi folks. I'm more than a little oogie on transvestites (due to some issues in the life of a RL friend) but I recognize that as being MY issue. It's always fascinated me how much the Christian community, however, is concerned about what EVERYONE ELSE does in the privacy of their own home/hotel room/Dr's office.

I can't help but laughing my butt off (again, how cool would that be if we really could???!!!) at the Holier Than Everyone right-wing Xtian crowd caught with it's trousers about their collective ankles in all the "WRONG" places - yet again.

  1. I think things like this clearly show the true level of intolerance in this commuity. They hold themselves up as paragons of virtue, yet their very leaders prove that we're all human with feet of clay.

They would be well served to remember what Jesus told them about he who is without sin casting the first stone. Most Evangelicals don't understand what that means. Jesus was never setting his followers up to stand in judgement of the human frailties of their fellow citizens. He was, rather, telling them to work on their own weaknesses and sins. He said it again and again.

It's sort of sad that most Evangelicals would rather look down their nose in judgement from their lofty high horses rather than to work on their own lives and failings.

It's so easy to condemn others for condemning others, not realizing that we become like them. In truth, we are all the same in any case - ALL of us.

  3. I disagree, Watcher.

Those who claim to "follow Christ" and who are loud and proud and vociferous - who claim that they are Christian and follow Jesus' path, have an obligation to be, themselves, better than those they condemn - Jesus DID say it - multiple times.

Judge not, lest ye be judged, Condemn not, lest ye be condemned.

How can you say to your brother "Remove the speck from your eye" when there is a log in your own?

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Therefore be sinless, like your Father in Heaven is sinless.

For ALL have sinned, and fallen short of the Glory of God.

Any self-proclaimed Christian who condemns other people, pointing fingers and shouting epithets (Rev. Phelps, anyone?) is not following the precepts and teachings of Christ, but is, instead, using his "Christianity" as a bludgeon - a bullying tool.

I have seen more peaceful, kind, loving, charitable acts from the Pagan community than I have ever seen from any large group of so-called Christians.

I'm not the same as the Christians. I do not believe that it is right to work AGAINST universal health care. I do not believe it is right to give huge tax breaks to the rich and slice benefits to the poor.

I do not believe it is right to rape the world of it's resources and give nothing back.

I do not believe that a sexual indescretion is worth 60 million dollars worth of investigation - or as bad a thing as the outright murder of over 650 thousand foreigners and almost 3000 of our own military personnel.

Christianity has chosen to lie down with the Republican dogs. The Religious Right shouldn't be surprised that they're getting up with fleas.

Perhaps you are right. I may be overly naïve, Sewmouse. Still, I am far more comfortable with “coming together” than looking down upon one another.
